A lobbyist since 1998, Tom leads the Ohio office for Compass. Previously he served in the state and federal governments for 15 years, including eight years as Senior Advisor to Ohio Governor George Voinovich, as a Special Assistant to George Bush (41) in the White House, and as a congressional press secretary and legislative assistant on Capitol Hill.
Tom has served under four Ohio Governors as Chairman of the Ohio Higher Educational Facility Commission, and was also appointed by Ohio Governor John Kasich to the Ohio Motor Vehicle Dealer Board. Tom serves on corporate, non-profit and family boards.
Tom founded a nonprofit that awarded more than 400 educational scholarships to low-income Columbus families, and was the pro bono president of a program that helps at-risk and disadvantaged students in Ohio.
An Ohio native, Tom received his B.A. from Walsh College in Canton, Ohio, where he was recognized as one of its outstanding Alumnus and also received its Community Service Award. He earned M.A. degrees from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio, and The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where he was a guest lecturer.
Ted Hollingsworth has been a government relations consultant for nearly a decade, after nearly 20 years in the federal and state government. He was Chief of Staff to Ohio Senator George Voinovich for his entire first term and legislative director for then-Congressman Mike DeWine of Ohio.
Ted also was director of Governor Voinovich’s Washington Office, where he served as the chief lobbyist for the State of Ohio before the executive branch and the Congress.
Born in Philadelphia, Ted received a B.A. in Political Science and Russian from Haverford College, where he was awarded Honors in Russian. He also received a Master of International Affairs degree from Columbia University and was awarded a Certificate in Soviet Area Studies from the W. Averell Harriman Institute for Advanced Study of the Soviet Union.
Catherine West is a communications professional and government relations consultant/lobbyist. Her experience also includes association management (including responsibility for staffing a professional ethics committee tasked with investigation of potential violations and enforcement of a professional code of ethics), as well as compliance monitoring within the education sector. Her communications career spans more than 30 years, including service as press secretary for the Ohio Senate Majority Caucus and as a public information officer and spokesperson for a key Ohio state agency. Catherine holds a Bachelor degree and an MBA from Capital University in Columbus.
